A Season of Prayer and Incredible Testimonies
For the last two weeks, we have been gathering as a church on Wednesday nights to seek God in prayer. We have been praying for our church, families, community and issues facing our region and world.
In my personal prayer times, I have felt God calling us as a church to prayer in this season so we are going to continue to gather Wednesday nights for the remainder of August, and possibly longer!
One of the massive felt needs people are facing in our community and church is being out of work. The Las Vegas valley was hit hard by the recession and our community is still feeling the aftermath. However, I firmly believe and repeatedly say;
“You may lose your job, but you do not lose your Provider!”
During these Wednesday prayer meetings, we have been praying for the prosperity of the families in our church and for specific individuals who need jobs. Within one week, following the last prayer meeting, two incredible testimonies came in about answers to those prayers!
Check out the testimonies below and don’t miss “All Church Prayer” every Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. in August at the church! Come expecting God to move powerfully on our behalf when we gather together and seek Him in prayer!
“…If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you.” – Matthew 18:19

Testimony from Chip Rowe
Dear Pastor Benny:
My business has been down 70% to 80% this year. Projects have been hit and miss at best, but Bev and I have remained faithful to God’s word to put our trust in him through our consistent (but considerably smaller), tithe. Your prayer during our first prayer meeting on Wednesday, July 25th, calling for prosperity and deals to be closed for all business men and women was prophetic for me. Allow me to share my testimony.
I woke up Thursday morning, July 26th to an e-mail from a customer referring me to one of their customers needing a small amount of work done. I immediately called and was told that this person not only needed 3 days of work done but a larger division of the company needed a large project done but he thought it was too late for me to send a proposal because they had already picked a vendor. I immediately called the project sponsor and she agreed to hold off her decision if I was able to send a proposal by the next morning. I worked all day and late into the night and sent her our proposal for the largest contract ever done by my firm at 8:00 AM Central, Friday morning. She agreed to review it.
Literally, the moment I hit the “send” key for that proposal on Friday morning, I received another e-mail from a long-time client indicating they needed me immediately for a short 2-day project. 6 minutes later, I received another e-mail with an offer from Salesforce.com professional services for a 6 1/2 week project in October with Transamerica Corporation which, of course, I gladly accepted. Minutes later, the phone rang and it was a long-time client asking for sales help on a two-week project with GE Corporation. A call was scheduled for Friday at noon when we spoke to the client at GE. They said they liked what they heard so we sent a Statement of Work, which was accepted late Friday afternoon!!!!
Monday morning at 7:00 AM Pacific, I got a call from the people who had received my proposal on Friday morning indicating to me that my proposal had been accepted!!! But hold on! I hung up the call and moments later I received a call from a professional placement firm. They had seen my resume on line wanted me to assume responsibility for a 3-MONTH engagement in San Francisco starting immediately!!! I had so much business that I had to turn them down because I had no time on my schedule!!
All in all, in the course of two and a half days, God had blessed me with more than 14 1/2 weeks of continuous work which makes my entire year successful! I have hired a member of the Church to help me. Oh, and the client who accepted my proposal —– Ministry Health Care, is a Christian health insurance provider who had graciously provided my family with inexpensive health care when I was unemployed from IBM for 19 months.
Luke 6:38 has come alive for my family and me.
“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
Pastor Benny – let people know NOT TO LOSE THEIR FAITH. God has already put in motion a plan for them. God Bless You, Your Leadership and God Bless This Church!!! WOW, we serve a mighty God!

Testimony from Melissa Abella
On May 10th, I was let go from my job with no warning. Luckily, I was in a place where I had been saving and I thought I had enough to hold me over to my next job. Being that this has been my 3rd time in less than two years being laid off here in Las Vegas, I knew from past experiences that my connections would land me another job within a month. This time, however, that wasn’t the case. I started to run out of money towards the end of June and had yet to receive one call back from all the applications I had submitted and conversations I had.
Pastor Benny preached strongly one Saturday night about stepping out in faith and trusting God, and sewing a seed bigger than our usual tithe. Even though my bank account was nearly empty, I stepped out and doubled my tithe. That evening I came home from church and in the mail box was a severance check that I wasn’t expecting. I thought surely a check for a couple thousand would hold me over to my next offer. Well when I received the check, my unemployment was cut off completely. The unemployment office messed up on the calculation and I had no funds coming in for over a month. The severance money that I received had to catch me up and carry me over until the unemployment was fixed. I pressed harder and harder into prayer, expecting the unexpected to one day appear.
Since May, my full-time job has been praying and worshiping in my house, harder than I ever have – and spending more time in His Presence and word than I ever have. I just knew that my breakthrough had to be around the corner. Mid-July came around and still no phone calls, no interviews from any of the letters, emails and applications I had sent. I didn’t give up. I just kept His promise in front of me and pressed into it harder.
Finally, I got a call a couple weeks back (the first week of our prayer meeting) telling me that my unemployment was fixed and they found an error and owed me an extra $100 than they had told me. I found a job online the Friday after our prayer meeting and decided instead of submitting the application online, to do some research and find out who the hiring manager was for the University. I found all the info I needed and called her directly leaving her a long voicemail on why I was qualified for the position and why she should call me back.
Last Monday, the director called me back and thanked me for leaving her a voicemail and asked if I would come in for an interview that Tuesday! The interview went very well! She threw a foot stack of resumes at me and said “I was just telling my regional manager today how smart it was for you to contact me the way you did – this landed you the interview. I have not looked at one of the resumes because they are overwhelming and I don’t have time”. After the interview she asked me to come back last Wednesday for a couple hours to job shadow the team. That night, after I spent a couple hours with the team, I headed to our second prayer meeting. Even though I did not have an offer letter in hand, I started declaring that I had a job! Thursday, I received an email with an offer bigger than the offer I was asking for in my prayers. God not only provided for me financially above and beyond, but he put me back in the educational field where I will get to change lives and impact others again!

A Heart Healed
Church must be more than just great music and preaching. There must be a tangible presence of Jesus that begins to heal and mend people’s hearts. Here at The Church at South Las Vegas we pray that Jesus and His Presence will touch every person that walks through the door.
That is why I get so excited when someone takes the time write us and share their testimony. Look at what Jesus did in this person’s life:
“I lost my 15 yr. old daughter to suicide on 9/30/10. My entire world had collapsed on that very day, and life simply didn’t feel like life anymore but a nightmare. I would wake up and go to sleep crying, not knowing the day or time. I had lost concept of life and had lost hope in everything, including the love of my children, family and friends.
One day a friend of mine invited me to attend her Church, “The Church of South Las Vegas.” I was reluctant to go because I believed God did not love me and I had lost hope in life. Service after service, I cried when I heard each song, its lyrics and the messages given by Pastor Benny. Weeks went by, but felt like years since it had only being a couple of months since I had lost my daughter. I began praying and asking for strength and peace in my heart. Little by little, I kept feeling the pain wash away as if layers and layers of the past were being stripped away.
One day, I stood at Church hearing the songs and listening to Pastor Benny. This time, I looked around in bewilderment wondering why I was not crying. I felt such PEACE and LOVE in my heart that I simply started crying(not because of the pain but because of the LOVE I was feeling in my heart) and saying “thank you GOD for your love and strength; I know it is you, and no one else.” God is there; he has always being there for us we simply have to have FAITH and TRUST in him; he knows what’s best for us. HE LOVES US.”
This is what God is doing in Vegas. Thank you for your prayers and support. The best is yet to come for all of us as we keep our eyes on Jesus.
Benny Perez
